Meet Julia Sheriden

Julia Sheriden, founder of Outreach and Resource Services, is featured in a news cast presented by Evening magazine. In 2013 she was one of five people from Washington State honored for their outstanding public service by the Jefferson Awards Foundation, which is considered the “gold seal” for public service.

Julia served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged after an incident left her with disabling injuries. For several years, she struggled to make her way through government bureaucracy to receive military benefits as a result of her injury. As a result of her experience, she chose to dedicate herself to helping fellow women veterans fight for their rights as well.

At the Jefferson Awards ceremony, she was again honored by being named Washington State’s nominee for the national award ceremony held in Washington, D.C.
